Job Summary:

Reports to: Senior Pastor
Position Status: Full Time - Exempt

Purpose: The Director of Student Ministry is responsible for fostering the spiritual growth of the youth of Church of the Apostles (6th- 12th grade), assisting parents in passing on their faith to their children, and leading the volunteers who serve in the Student Ministry.

Key Responsibilities include:
1. Student Ministry
¥ Overseeing the Sunday PM student worship service, including organizing music, testimonies, & skits, and serving as the primary teacher.
¥ Overseeing the student small groups on Sunday evenings (after worship service) including developing curriculum, recruiting and training and small group leaders.
¥ Overseeing the confirmation program for students.
¥ Organizing and leading student retreats, camps, and mission trips throughout the year.

2. Leadership Development
¥ Recruiting and training lay leaders who can love and lead our students effectively one-on-one and in small groups.
¥ Leading regular leadership meetings in order to continue to develop and encourage lay leaders and student leaders.
¥ Supervising Student ministry staff

3. Outreach
¥ Intentionally reaching out to students, who are not yet involved, through regular involvement in local middle and high schools
¥ Meeting regularly with students who do not yet know Christ in order to build relationships to share the gospel.
¥ Training students to share the gospel with their friends.


4. Administration & Communication
¥ Developing short and long term goals and plans for the ministry.
¥ Developing and implementing an annual calendar of activities.
¥ Developing and managing the annual budget for the student ministry
¥ Overseeing all fundraising activities for the student ministry.
¥ Send regular communications to inform parents of activities and overall direction of the ministry.
¥ Updating all information related to student ministry in church-related publications (the Pulse, the bulletin, the website).
