On Faithfulness, Generosity, and Courage

In July, Archbishop Beach asked me to serve as the Canon for Development for the Province. My main role is to ensure and secure the vast resources we need to grow from strength to strength while also serving the Dioceses, Congregations, and people of this Province so that we grow in generosity.

At the heart of the gospel is tremendous generosity.

For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was rich, yet for your sake he became poor, so that you, through his poverty, might become rich. (2 Cor. 8.9)

At the heart of Jesus is a generosity of ministry that is freely given to us as well.

Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse those who have leprosy, drive out demons. Freely you have received; freely give. (Matt. 10.8)

In fact, the Apostle Paul quotes our Lord directly when he reminds the Elders in Ephesus:

It is more blessed to give than to receive. (Acts 20.35)
We have progressed, but we are not finished. There is more work to be done, more churches to plant, more disciples to make, and more people to love and serve.

Shortly, you and all of our churches will receive a letter from Archbishop Foley about our current end-of-year needs.

Your generosity fuels our efforts to build a united, biblical, and missionary Anglican Church in North America that reaches everyone in our continent with the transforming love of Jesus Christ. We are indeed grateful for you and for your partnership in the gospel.

As the Lord leads, please remember us in your prayers and your generosity to the Lord.

In Christ,

Alan Hawkins
