World Mission Sunday

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

In Acts 1:8 Jesus says, “And you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the Earth.” This is each Christian’s call to engage in mission at every geographical level, from local to global.

The coming together of the Anglican Church in North America presented an unparalleled opportunity for our life together with new patterns and commitments to spread the Gospel to the ends of the earth. From our very first year, I established the Last Sunday after Epiphany to be observed each year as World Mission Sunday. In 2014 that day will be Sunday, March 2. On that day I am asking all ACNA churches to highlight this call to world mission through prayers, testimonies, stewardship and education.

I would also like to ask your congregations to collect a special world mission offering on that day to support the work of one of the Anglican Global Mission Partners (AGMP). AGMP is a network of 33 non-profit Anglican global mission-committed entities. Their vision is to see an Anglican Church in North America that is passionately committed to preach the Gospel and to make disciples of all nations in the name of Christ. Please contact any of these agencies for additional resources, speakers and testimonies that will bless your congregation immeasurably by sharing their Gospel work around the world. A listing of those agencies can be found at

Thank you for your partnership in proclaiming the gospel with both word and deed throughout the world.

Yours in Christ,

The Most Reverend Robert William Duncan, D.D.
Archbishop of the Anglican Church in North America
Anglican Bishop of Pittsburgh
