Director of Music Ministries

Overview

The Church of the Holy Comforter, a growing Anglican congregation in downtown Sumter (ASA 140+), seeks a Director of Music Ministries to lead a Christ-centered, Spirit-filled music program that supports our vision: “A house of prayer, empowered by the Holy Spirit, to make known the glory and grace of Jesus Christ.” Under the rector’s authority, the Director will shape and lead music that deepens worship, disciples volunteers, and nurtures faith across generations.

Personal Qualifications

● A committed follower of Jesus Christ with a vibrant personal faith and a heart for worship. ● A servant-leader who models humility, prayer, and spiritual maturity.

● Organized and self-motivated, able to plan ahead and inspire others.

● A recruiter and discipler, equipping team members spiritually and musically. ● A collaborative team player and reconciler within the body of Christ.

● A good steward, able to manage ministry resources wisely.

● A prayer warrior devoted to consistent, intentional prayer, seeking God’s guidance.

Professional Qualifications

● Bachelor’s degree in organ or music performance (or equivalent experience). ● Proficiency in organ and piano; ability to direct choir and praise team. ● Familiarity with traditional Anglican hymnody and contemporary worship music. ● Experience with music notation software (Sibelius, Finale, Dorico, etc.). ● Strong communication, planning, and leadership skills.
