Our Ministry Partner Matthew 25 Initiative has created a free resources for ACNA churches to assist them in establishing a parish benevolence fund policy. This is a practical guide to help parishes offer care with clarity, compassion, and accountability.
Why does a benevolence fund matter?
Many of our ACNA churches already respond to urgent needs in their neighborhoods—with grocery cards, rent assistance, transportation help, or utility payments. Compassion alone isn’t enough. A benevolence ministry must be governed by clear policies, wise stewardship, and healthy boundaries to be sustainable, ethical, and effective. Without a clear policy, good intentions can become confusing, unsustainable, or inequitable.
This guide was created to help you do what you’re already doing—just with more wisdom, transparency, and shared leadership.
Who is this resource for?
Whether you’re starting from scratch or refining an existing fund, this resource equips vestries, clergy, and ministry leaders to put structures in place that reflect the heart of Christ and safeguard the church. A benevolence fund is more than just financial assistance—it’s a visible expression of our Lord’s compassion in action, offering hope in crisis and dignity in need.
