Call to a Season of Prayer

Beginning with the Season of Easter starting March 31st and continuing through Pentecost until June 20th, Dr. Beach is calling on the members of the ACNA to set aside each Wednesday or Friday (or both) to spend time in prayer (and fasting for those who are able), while also adding a petition in each Sunday’s Prayers of the People, for the bishops as we seek the Lord for his successor.  He is asking each member, rector, pastor, bishop, priest, deacon, prayer group, Bible Study, and intercessor in the Province to make this a priority starting Easter Sunday.. A:

Dioceses are represented according to their size (Average Principal Service Attendance). Proposed changes to the Constitution or Canons (church law) are considered as presented from previous meetings of the Provincial Council (where all dioceses have equal representation). In the Provincial Assembly Governance Session changes to the Constitution or Canons are either ratified as presented or sent back to Provincial Council for further work. Thus, the Provincial Assembly and the Church are spared endless hours of legislative debate and the “main thing – mission – is kept the main thing.” The Provincial Assembly also gives emerging leaders (youth delegates aged 16-26) nearly one-third of all the votes in the unicameral governance session of Provincial Assembly.”

A: The selection of delegates and youth delegates is up to each individual diocese. Usually, this is determined by the Canons of the diocese. The Provincial Canons explain the calculation of the number of delegates allotted to each Diocese under Canon I.1 for Council and Canon I.2 for Assembly.
A: Everyone is welcome to attend and participate in the Assembly mission conference portion of the week, Wednesday through Friday midday. If you are not a delegate, you may attend the Provincial Council and Provincial Assembly business meetings as an observer on Tuesday and Wednesday. Only official delegates have voice and vote during the business meetings.
A: The College of Bishops will elect the next archbishop from among its members during its meeting the weekend preceding Assembly. The transfer of spiritual authority from Archbishop Foley Beach to the new archbishop will take place during the closing Eucharist of Assembly on Friday, June 28, 2024.
A: You can contact Pam Norris (pam.norris@anglicanchurch.net) about being an Exhibitor.
A: The Province does not provide scholarships to attend Provincial Council or Assembly. We recommend reaching out to your local diocese or congregation to determine if they have scholarships available.
A: There will be a $50 administrative fee for refunds. No refunds after May 15, 2024.
A: Firearms are not allowed on the campus of Saint Vincent College.
