Provincial Assembly 2024 and pre-assembly activities are fast approaching. We have provided a detailed orientation here to address frequently asked questions. We have tried to address everything ranging from what you should pack, to registration, housing, and meal details.

We highly recommend that you read through this FAQ to be better prepared as the week fast approaches.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

ANSWER:

  • A passport is required for those traveling into the United States.
  • Delegate meeting dress code: clerical attire (if applicable) or business casual.
  • Bible and 2019 Book of Common Prayer for use in daily worship.
  • It is recommended that you bring an umbrella and/or rain coat.
  • Even though the temperature in Latrobe will be warm, the spaces at St. Vincent College are air conditioned (except for the Basilica). Evenings could be chilly at this time of year as this is in the mountains of Pennsylvania, so please keep that in mind.  Dressing in layers is advisable.
  • Comfortable walking shoes. The campus is hilly and there will be a good amount of walking.
  • Bring your own re-fillable water bottle.
A: Each attendee is responsible for their own transporation to St. Vincent. Latrobe is approximately a 90 minutes drive from the Pittsburgh airport. Traffic can be heavy at times. Latrobe has an airport, Arnold Palmer Regional, with very limited flights and is only 2.5 miles from the college.

Answer:

  • College of Bishops check-in will begin at 2:00 PM on Thursday, June 20th, in the Fred Rogers Center on campus. You can check into the dorms at 4:00 PM. Please make every effort to arrive before 5:00 PM. Dinner begins at 5:30 PM.
  • Executive Committee, ARDF Trustees and DiocesanAdministrators and Canons check-in will begin at 2:00 PM on Sunday, June 23rd, in the Fred Rogers Center on campus. Dinner is included on Sunday night. Registration will be open until 7:00 PM.
  • Provincial Council Delegates and Observers, as well as Exhibitors,check-in will begin at 2 pm on Monday, June 24th, in the Fred Rogers Center on campus and last until 7:00 PM. Dinner begins at 5:30 PM. Please make every effort to arrive before 4:30 PM to give yourself time to check-in. For those that miss the 7:00 PM deadline, you can pick up your materials in the morning before the meeting.
  • Provincial Assembly check-in will start on Tuesday, June 25th, at 2:00 PM in the Fred Rogers Center and run until 7:00 PM.
  • Jurisdiction of the Armed Forces & Chaplaincy check-in will start on Tuesday, June 25th, at 2:00 PM in the Fred Rogers Center and run until 4:00 PM.
  • Late Arrival Instructions:If you expect to arrive later than 7:00 PM and are staying on campus you must contact Pam Norris at pam.norris@anglicanchurch.net or 412-477-1052 by June 13th (or sooner if possible). Please do NOT call St. Vincent College.
  • After June 20th, or if you unexpectedly arrive later than 7:00 PM, please call 724-252-6093. Please do NOT call St. Vincent College.
  • For those not staying on campus and who will miss the 7:00 PM deadline on Tuesday, badges can be picked up in the Carey Center lobby before the first Plenary session.
Answer:

For “Assembly only” attendees:

  • Dinner on Tuesday evening the 25th, is in the Café on campus.
  • For those staying on campus, breakfast on Wednesday-Friday is in the Café.
  • For those staying in an off-campus arrangement, you will need to get your breakfast before you arrive on campus.
  • Lunch and Dinner on Wednesday for all Assembly attendees are also served in the Café.
  • Lunch on Thursday will be served in the Café.
  • Dinner on Thursday evening (The Thanksgiving banquet) will be served in the Carey Center Gymnasium.
  • Friday late-morning there will be a ‘heavy’ snack provided in the Gymnasium instead of a Lunch meal.

For Provincial Council Attendees:

  • In addition to the meals included with your Assembly registration:
  • Dinner on Monday evening, June 24th
  • For those staying on campus, breakfast on Tuesday is in the Café.
  • For those staying in an off-campus arrangement, you will need to get your breakfast before you arrive on campus.
  • Lunch on Tuesday, June 25th is included with the Provincial Council registration.

Information for Bishops and Bishops’ wives only:

All the above meals plus all meals from Dinner on Thursday, June 20th, through Lunch on Monday, June 24th.

All the meals will be buffet style at the college. There will be choices in what you will be able to eat. If you are not sure about a selection, the cafeteria staff can be asked about how a dish has been prepared.

For Assembly, for the two lunches, and for Wednesday dinner we will eat in two shifts. Instructions specific to each meal will be announced from the stage prior to dismissal. Please let the clergy and all involved in the Opening Festival Eucharist who will be vesting go first at the Wednesday lunch. On Thursday night, everyone will be together at the Thanksgiving banquet.

A: Unless you are a bishop, you will be staying in St. Benedict’s Hall, which is a  traditional style dorm. You will be given a card and a key at registration. The card gets you into your pod, a private area that is locked from the rest of the floor, and has its own hallway bathrooms. The key gets you into your room. The pods have been segregated by sex, male or female, and when possible, the entire floor is segregated that way. The exception is couples and families rooming together. Hallway bathrooms will be clearly marked “Men” and “Women.” Please bring clothing appropriate to wear in the hallway on the way to the bathroom to shower. Bring your own toiletries and hairdryer and something to carry these in.

Housing for bishops for Conclave will be in Rooney Hall. The rooms will be private with a private bathroom. You will need to supply your own toiletries and hairdryer.

We will be providing towels, sheets, pillowcase, a blanket, and a pillow in both dorms. There will be a collection area for the linens and pillows when you check out. There will be a drop box for your keys and pod cards as well.  You may bring things that will make you feel more comfortable and at home. However, candles are not allowed.

Lost keys: It is $100 if you lose both your room key ($75) and your pod card ($25). It takes both to be able to enter your assigned pod and room.

Please note that Saint Vincent College is an alcohol-free campus.

All minor children must be accompanied by a parent, or a parent-delegated guardian at all times on campus.

A: The closing Eucharist ends at 1:30 pm on Friday, June 28th.  We would recommend not scheduling a flight before 6 pm on June 28th if you plan to stay until the end of Assembly to allow enough time to get back to the airport.

Transportation is on your own.

We have over 40 breakout sessions which will all occur on Thursday, June 27th. Look for more information in early June. The current schedule is arranged as follows:

A: The Fred Rogers Trolley Bus will be circling around the campus during Provincial Council and Assembly to help get you where you are going. It is a hop-on hop-off open air bus. There will be a limited number of golf carts assigned to staff. If you have a particular mobility issue, and feel you need extra help, don’t hesitate to let a staff member know at check-in. We will make every effort to help anyone that needs this extra assistance.
A: Tuesday evening, after dinner 7:00 PM – 8:30 PM at The Atrium, Sis and Herman Dupré Science Pavilion. All attendees are welcome. Grant and Wendy LeMarquand will give a short talk on ‘Encouraging the Church in Global Mission’ Come meet SAMS Missionaries and staff Coffee bar and biscotti.

On Wednesday evening, from 9:30 pm to 11:00 pm in the Dipadova Room of the Cafe Building, there will be a gathering for anyone that attends seminary or is interested in attending seminary. Please join us for light refreshments.

A: All Plenaries and Business Meetings will take place in the Carey Center Gymnasium and will start promptly.

The Opening Festival Eucharist will be on Wednesday and the Closing Eucharist will be on Friday. Both will take place in the Basilica on the Saint Vincent College campus.

A: We will be using the “One Tap” check in system for both Provincial Council and the Assembly Business Meeting for signing in before the meetings. Official Assembly delegates may have already received or may receive a text to verify your cell phone number. Please verify your phone number by responding to the text when you receive it. Provincial Council delegates will only receive a text if verification is needed.

You will receive a QR code in a text message to your phone a short time before the meeting. You will scan this in before entering the meeting at the sign in table in the lobby of the meeting room. We have a large number of delegates to check in in a short amount of time.

If you do not have a cell phone while on campus, please let us know when you arrive on campus.

There will be a designated seating area in the gym for Assembly delegates during the Business Meetings. Please choose a seat in that area only if you are an Assembly delegate. Alternates should not sit in the designated delegate area unless they are called upon to serve.

A: In an effort to best model the rhythms of life in the Prayer Book, there will be several worship services each day throughout the week, some optional, and with limited capacity.

Our two main services will be the opening and closing Eucharists in the Basilica on Wednesday and Friday. Liturgies noted as Morning or Evening Prayer will be traditional forms from the 2019 Book of Common Prayer. Worship in the gym during Assembly Plenary sessions will be informal times of prayer and praise together. Due to size restrictions, capacity for services held in the Student Chapel is limited. All are encouraged to bring a 2019 BCP to services. The Archabbey and Parish of St. Vincent’s does offer public services throughout the week. Please consult with on campus St. Vincent College services to learn more.

A: Vesting instructions will be sent to all registered clergy separately and will be posted on the website in the weeks to follow.
A: Exhibitors are required to have a confirmed “exhibitor” registration from the ACNA office.

  • The Exhibit Hall is in the Latimer Family Library.
  • All workers at the tables must be registered attendees.
  • Exhibitors who are also Provincial Council observers, may set up on Monday at 4:00 PM.
  • All others may set up on Tuesday anytime after 1:00 PM.
  • You will receive your table assignment when you arrive at the library from our Exhibit Host.
  • If you requested electricity, we will make every effort to accommodate your request.
  • Full tables are 6 ft. library tables. Half tables are 4 ft. x 4 ft. tables.
  • You may ship materials ahead of time as long as they are scheduled to arrive after June 17th.

  • All tables must be cleared by noon on Friday.
  • It is your responsibility to ship all materials and equipment back after the event.
  • Anything left on site after 12:00 pm on Friday will be discarded.
A: Volunteers will be on campus throughout the week.

  • Each Assembly volunteer will be wearing a “Volunteer Button” as well as a Volunteer Ribbon on their name Tag.
  • A Lost and Found table will be outside the Carey Center Gymnasium until Friday at 12:00 noon.
  • Service animals are allowed.
  • Nursing mothers are welcome to bring their infants into the worship and plenary sessions.
  • Campus and dorm Wifi instructions will be provided at check in.
  • The sports fields are the property of the Pittsburgh Steelers. Please do not walk on the fields.

Please be in prayer for the election of the next Archbishop.  The next Archbishop will be announced the weekend of June 22-23.

Call to a Season of Prayer

Beginning with the Season of Easter starting March 31st and continuing through Pentecost until June 20th, Dr. Beach is calling on the members of the ACNA to set aside each Wednesday or Friday (or both) to spend time in prayer (and fasting for those who are able), while also adding a petition in each Sunday’s Prayers of the People, for the bishops as we seek the Lord for his successor.  He is asking each member, rector, pastor, bishop, priest, deacon, prayer group, Bible Study, and intercessor in the Province to make this a priority starting Easter Sunday..
