Bishop Investiture and Consecrations to Take Place in September

The Anglican Church in North America is pleased to announce an upcoming bishop investiture and the consecration of two new bishops in the month of September. Members of the Anglican Church in North America are encouraged to attend these services, as they are able. The services will be an opportunity for fellowship and are a testament to the growing orthodox Anglican faith across North America.

“These ordained men have hearts of servants and their continued work for the Gospel will be an immeasurable blessing to the Anglican Church in North America and its worshipping communities,” said the Most Rev. Robert Duncan, Archbishop and Primate of the Anglican Church in North America. “We are eager to bear witness to the growth in ministry and faith that Bishop Guernsey and Bishops-elect Menees and Allen will undoubtedly inspire through their own Christ-filled service.”

The investiture of The Rt. Rev. John Guernsey as first bishop of the Diocese of the Mid-Atlantic, formerly the Anglican District of Virginia, will be held on Saturday, September 10 at 11:00 am at Truro Church in Fairfax, Va. Bishop Guernsey previously led the Diocese of the Holy Spirit and its member congregations have been transferred to geographic dioceses within the Anglican Church in North America.

On Saturday, September 24 at 3:00 pm at Peoples Church in Fresno, Calif., Bishop-elect Eric Menees will be consecrated as bishop and will serve the Diocese of San Joaquin. Bishop-elect Menees will succeed Bishop John-David Schofield, who has served the diocese since 1988 and will be retiring this fall.

Bishop-elect Kevin Bond Allen will be consecrated in Seattle, Wash., on Friday, September 30 at 7:00 pm at First Lutheran Church of West Seattle. Click here for directions. Bishop-elect Allen will serve the Diocese of Cascadia.

Archbishop Duncan will preside at all three services.

Please continue to join us in prayer for these leaders:
Almighty Father, we thank you for raising up among us faithful servants for the ministry of your Word and Sacraments. We pray that Bishop Guernsey, Bishop-elect Eric and Bishop-elect Allen may be to us an effective example in word and action, in love and patience, in holiness of life, and fidelity to your son and our Lord’s gospel. Grant that we, with them, may serve you now, and always rejoice in your glory; through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.
