Dear friends in Christ,
One of the ways we manifest our particular “Anglican conciliar” way of decision-making is by making any changes to our governing documents, the Anglican Church in North America Constitution and Canons, available for your review and comments. “Conciliar” means that the whole church participates in the decision-making because, in the words of an ancient maxim of canon law, “what touches all ought to be decided by all.” This year’s proposed changes have a lot to do with the role and election of bishops, church discipline, and more.
The Report of the Governance Task Force in the video below explains the changes proposed to our canons for Provincial Council 2021 in June at the Cove. Our goal is always that our decision-making (governance) would be good and godly. If you are interested, you can find the changes and the reasons for these changes explained in the video report below. Please email me (address in the video) your comments or proposed edits on or before April 15, and the Anglican Church in North America Governance Task Force will review and prepare the final video report for May. You can also find a written copy of our report here.
May the Lord continue to bless you this Lent, as together we approach our Lord’s resurrection.
In Christ’s service,
Canon Phil Ashey
Chair of the Governance Task Force
