Family Mission Trips Serving in North Carolina

The following is a report from Next Generation Leadership Initiative (NGLI) about a collaborative effort with the Anglican Relief and Development Fund (ARDF).

Better Caught Than Taught

In families with children, there is often an understanding that many lessons in life and faith are better “caught than taught.” Doing things together as a family can create wonderful memories and foster a life-long love for the activity. So, what better way to plant seeds for a life of service to others than to serve together, fulfilling our calling as Christians across the generations to “carry each other’s burdens” (Galatians 6:2)?

This coming June, ARDF is partnering with the Family Leadership Network (NGLI) to offer a mission trip for families to serve together in Western North Carolina, where recovery work continues after Hurricane Helene.

The response to this opportunity has been heartening! Over sixty people are already confirmed to participate from June 15th to the 20th. We will welcome families from St. Peter’s Anglican Cathedral in Tallahassee, FL; All Saints in Holland, MI; St Thomas Anglican in Athens, GA; All Saints in Spartanburg, SC; Christ The Redeemer Anglican Pendleton, SC; and Common Life Church in Canton, OH.

The trip is currently full, but the prompt and enthusiastic response is an encouragement to offer similar opportunities for families in the future. For this year, we look forward to partnering with those who will come to demonstrate the love of Jesus to those who suffered so much during Hurricane Helene and who continue to rebuild and recover. Please join us in prayer as families prepare for this trip together this summer.
