Rector

Bread of Life Anglican Church (Niskayuna, NY), a member of the Anglican Diocese of the Living Word, seeks a part-time Rector.

We are seeking a priest who, first and foremost, is committed to preaching and teaching the Bible and faithfully shepherding the flock. We also hope he will be open to the work of the Holy Spirit, including the exercise of charismatic gifts. In addition, we value a rector with a good sense of humor and the humility to laugh at himself from time to time.

Bread of Life is a congregation of approximately twenty people, ranging in age from 1 to 85, with the majority of members aged 60 and above. Although our congregation is geographically dispersed, we gather at a central location—the American Legion Hall in Niskayuna, near Schenectady, New York. We are currently seeking a more permanent meeting space and have funds set aside for this purpose.

We are a warm and close-knit congregation—our coffee hour often lasts a full hour—and we would welcome a rector who enjoys and embraces this fellowship.

The Rector will:

• Preach and celebrate at Sunday morning services and on other significant feast days and occasions
• Lead Bible studies, times of prayer, and other opportunities for spiritual formation
• Provide pastoral care for the congregation, including presiding at baptisms, confirmations, weddings, and funerals
• Work with the Vestry on operational and financial matters
• Undertake other duties that support the life of the congregation and encourage the growth of the church
