Music Director at Faith Church Anglican
Faith Church is an Anglican congregation meeting in Fairview, Texas. We are a member of the International Dioceses of the Anglican Church in North America, and our mission is: Growing Disciples. Serving Others. We are a vibrant congregation and we invite you to worship with us!
About the Position:
Faith Church Anglican is looking for a part-time music director to enjoy the benefits of a skilled, passionate musician who can encourage the congregation to participate in the musical aspects of the corporate worship of our Lord Jesus Christ. This position exists to magnify the greatness of God and motivate the people of Faith Church to proclaim the truth of the gospel through singing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs.
Recognizing that Jesus Christ is our primary worship leader, and the Rector holds the primary responsibility for worship, the Music Director offers his or her skills to coordinate with the Rector to organize a well-planned and engaging Sunday morning worship service. This includes leading the music during the service and leading a team of volunteers of musicians and technicians to encourage congregational participation. In order to accomplish this goal, the Music Director will choose appropriate music for a given service, schedule other musicians and prepare for rehearsals, and schedule technicians to provide sound amplification and lyrical presentation support.
The Music Director must continue to grow and mature in Christ and keep his or her eyes fixed on Jesus as the perfecter of our faith. (Hebrews 12:2) Remembering that our ability to worship is made possible by power of the Holy Spirit, the Music Director leads the congregation by responding in worship through the gift of music. Singing enables us to display God’s glory, teaches us to remember the truths of the gospel, and is an expression of our affection for God. When Paul and Silas sang in the Philippian jail, God shook the prison and set them free. When Jehoshaphat heard that God would fight the battle for the Israelites, he sent the singers in front of the army. There is power when the people of God sing together.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Ability to lead vocally and instrumentally with excellence.
Choosing and arranging music that lyrically speaks the truth of the gospel in a variety of style and forms.
Providing leadership to recruit, train and build up the volunteers in the music and support teams. This includes scheduling volunteers and leading rehearsals.
Developing and working within a budget to accommodate the needs of the team and facility.
Communicating with the Rector regularly to participate in the planning and implementing of the services.
Flexibility to assist the Rector with other duties as requested.
Maintain Christian Copyright Licensing International (CCLI) membership and reporting
It is anticipated that the duties associated with this position will take no less than 9 and no more than 12 hours per week depending on an average week of activities. Special services and holy days will require more.
Experience and Education:
3-5 years’ experience leading worship for an orthodox, liturgical congregation preferred
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience a plus
