Last Chance! Final Review of Title IV Revisions Open until March 20

Title IV is the section of our canons that governs how instances of misconduct and abuse are handled to uphold safety, justice, and accountability across the Province. The province is currently in the final stages of a nearly year-long public review cycle to solicit input, suggestions, and feedback on these proposed changes.

Version 3.0 was released on February 2. In response to discussions regarding what was meant by the inclusion of the phrase “trauma informed training” in Version 3.0 an updated Version 3.1 posted on February 15.

It is a core principle of our governance that “what affects all is decided by all” so we are earnestly seeking participation and engagement from clergy and members across the province to ensure the final proposed changes have been as thoroughly vetted as possible.

The current public review window opened February 2 and will remain Open until Friday, March 20. Any Provincial Council delegates and/or Provincial Assembly delegates are especially encouraged to conduct a thorough review of these canons now, to ensure they have the opportunity to share their feedback.

Once the public review window closes, the Governance Task Force (GTF) will conduct its final review before the proposed Title IV changes go to the Provincial Council for a vote.  If passed at Provincial Council in Tulsa, Oklahoma on June 18, 2026, the revised Title IV will then be considered by delegates at a special virtual Provincial Assembly on June 25 from 2:00-5:00pm EST. If Provincial Assembly approves the changes, they will take effect immediately and, based on the current version, dioceses will then have until January, 2027 to come into alignment with the new rules.
