Commander Robbie (Hal) Scott Jr., Chaplain Corps, U.S. Navy, officially retired from service as a military chaplain on October 7th, 2016, at the Naval Medical Center Chapel, Portsmith, VA. Hal commented, ” My wife Debbie and I celebrate 28 years of Naval Service in the Chaplain Corps, and we are excited about the continuing ministry with the Jurisdiction of the Armed Forces and Chaplaincy and as the Lord leads in other areas of service.”
Chairman of the Jurisdiction of the Armed Forces and Chaplaincy, Chaplain Michael VanHoosier attended the celebration on behalf of Bishop Derek Jones who was delayed due to hurricane Matthew. Chairman Vanhoosier expressed appreciation for Chaplain Scott’s service by commenting, ” Hal is an outstanding member of our senior staff! His leadership and compassionate heart for sharing the Gospel has been a blessing to our staff, our Deans and those who come under their pastoral care. We are proud of his many years of service in the military, and wish Hal and Debbie the best.” Also in attendance representing our Commissioned Lay Chaplains was Carol VanHoosier.
