A Call to Prayer for the Persecuted Church in Syria and Iraq

As a continuation of that appeal I am calling our churches to include a special time of prayer for the persecuted church during their services this Sunday, August 24th.

A prayer resource has been created to assist you and your congregation this week and you are welcome to use it as long as you deem appropriate. (PDF, Word)

Last week, Canon Andrew White, an Anglican known as the Vicar of Baghdad, vested in red in recognition of the martyrs who gave their life for Christ over the last few weeks, some of whom were members of his own congregation. Clergy who are celebrating or officiating this week are welcome to vest in the color red in solidarity with them and in recognition of this testimony to Christ.

Your brother at the foot of the Cross,

The Most Rev. Dr. Foley Beach
