A Vision Dinner on Raising Children in a Culture of Self-Fulfillment
This fall, The Brotherhood Mutual Foundation* annually awards multiple Kingdom Advancing Grants to support “church teams who, in their God-ordained calling, transform their community in creative, innovative, and collaborative ways.” All Saints Anglican Church in Weddington, NC was recently awarded one of these Kingdom Advancing Grants for their new parenting initiative.
All Saints will host a one-night dinner event to engage young parents and cast vision for a potential new initiative called Parenthood & Purpose: Why Adults Must Do Hard Things for Kids. The goal of the evening is simple: to bring together young families for a meal and meaningful conversation around the sacred vocation of parenthood—and to discern whether there is sufficient interest to launch a fuller six-week program in the spring.
Charlotte is filled with young families who love their children but have little connection to the Church. Many are spiritually curious but unsure where to begin. This vision dinner is a low-barrier opportunity to begin that conversation—centered not on religious performance, but on the shared desire to raise strong, resilient children.
Should the response be strong, the spring course would explore parenting as a form of discipleship, rooted in biblical truths and shaped by sacrificial love. In partnership with Them Before Us, this initiative would help parents reframe the challenges of family life in a culture that often prioritizes adult desires over children’s needs.
About Them Before Us
Them Before Us is a global movement committed to defending children’s rights in family structure. Grounded in biblical ethics and natural law, they equip parents, pastors, and policymakers with the clarity and courage to uphold a child’s right to their mother and father. Their work addresses today’s most pressing family questions—from divorce and cohabitation to surrogacy, adoption, and reproductive technologies—with both compassion and conviction.
If your parish has a growing community of young families or feels the need for this kind of apologetic and pastoral formation, Them Before Us would be delighted to help facilitate Parenthood & Purpose in your church as well.
