Job Summary:

We are seeking an ordained bi-vocational rector. This position could expand to full time in the future. Our search will continue until the Lord answers our prayer.

Vision: Sharing the peace and good news of Christ Jesus with His world. Success is evident by an increase in the number of new Christians in St. Matthew’s and Lapeer

Mission and Core Purpose: To fulfill the Great Commandment and the Great Commission of Christ Jesus. Making disciples who make disciples. These are evidenced by actions through the year including: a free clothing closet, prayer walks, partial support of a mission family in Malawi, provided in-depth training in healing prayer, mission trips to out of state locations, sponsoring orphans in Africa, active participation in downtown Lapeer events, we host community wide special events, we participated in the founding of and now house the headquarters for the Refuge Homeless Shelter.

These are a small part of our strategy to grow GOD’s Kingdom in Lapeer.

Rector search verses: 1 Peter 4:10-11 10 As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God’s varied grace: 11 whoever speaks, as one who speaks oracles of God; whoever serves, as one who serves by the strength that God supplies—in order that in everything God may be glorified through Jesus Christ. To him belong glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen. (ESV)

We are an Anglican congregation: Founded on January 1, 2005, a member of the Anglican Church of North America, and the Anglican Diocese of the Great Lakes, St. Matthew’s Anglican Church resides in a remodeled bank building in downtown Lapeer, Michigan. Our faith-filled parish is striving to meet the challenges of a downtown ministry. We stand strong together and believe that our call is to follow Jesus as our Lord and God in communion with others. The Holy Spirit is leading us into healing ministry. Our leadership team (vestry) models the five purposes of Matthew 22:35-40 and Matthew 28:16-20.

Each member has answered a call to lead a team in these areas: Worship, Community Outreach Team, Missions, Family Life Development, Discipleship, plus Prayer, and Administration.

The following are non-negotiable: We have faith in Jesus as the Savior for our sins, following him as his disciples, and proclaiming his salvation to others. God is Father, Son and Holy Spirit in a perfect Trinity of three persons yet one God. Jesus, the second person of the Trinity, was both God and man. His death takes away the sin of the whole world, but he calls each of us to be one of his disciples in order that we may accept for ourselves his gift of salvation. Our job is not to be perfect (and God knows we are not) but we are forgiven in Him. This salvation we must proclaim to others. We do this through our collective worship, our personal prayer and scripture reading, our seeking to follow his leading through the Holy Spirit, and to tell others about salvation through Jesus Christ. We are Anglicans, meaning our worship is historical, liturgical, and connected to others around our country and the world. This faith in Jesus Christ is relevant for our lives today.
